Is this necessary?
This is an anticipated street sign after a New York Senator wants to ban people from listening to Ipod’s, talking on cell phones or blackberry’s, or any other ‘electronic gadgetry. I don’t think theres any level of volume that could possibly eliminate the chaos of noise that you hear when walking in NYC. And if you think there is anyone that won’t honk their horn at you for jaywalking when they have the green light you obviously haven’t set foot in NYC. The author of the article that the image was attached to makes a good point; walkman’s have been around for over 30 years. People have been listening and crossing the streets while listening to walkman’s for the entire time. Even if the law is passed, how many spare police officers do you think NYC has to just put on a street corner and wait for some to be ‘DANGEROUSLY’ listening to an ipod while crossing the street? The law says its illegal to speed when driving a car and there are far more police officers on the road, yet people do it every single day. But don’t worry, the child abuse, murders, home invasions, and car theft are only a few of the things that are far less dangerous or important than the dangers of listening to an ipod and bravely crossing the street.
